John Grisham calls himself an entertainer

Good article at CNN about John Grisham, who received 15 rejection slips before his book “A Time To Kill” was published.

Grisham’s books are not Joyce or Faulkner, for sure, but I see people reading his books with every evidence of enjoyment while I’m traveling back and forth to work.

He’s a well paid entertainer, because he made 9 million dollars last year.

51yztf0uwsl_aa240_.jpgA neighbor of mine was at the bus stop this morning, holding Andrew Morton’s book, Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography.

“This book is giving me nightmares,” she told me, thus ensuring that I will have to get my hands on this book.

I was watching a BBC special on Scientology not too long ago, and the sight of Tom Cruise saluting the portrait of dead scifi writer L. Ron Hubbard spooked me.

I’m going to get my hands on this book and write a review.

If you have read this book, I would appreciate your feedback.

Kindle out of stock

Amazon’s Kindle, a wireless reading device, is currently out of stock.

Kindle retails for $399.

It’s going to take me some time to get used to this “wireless reading device” way of reading.

And the price is going to have to travel south, quite a bit, before I can make the leap.

Take care, and just read!

“Wordy writers” is the book section’s February focus.

Read short blurbs about writers Ayn Rand, James Joyce, Victor Hugo, and James Michener.
