If you can afford to vacation at the Library Hotel in New York City, you may have an extra $30,000 laying around, waiting to be spent.
If so, then you can follow this link to Bauman’s Rare Books and purchase a set of first edition Charles Dickens books.
It might be nice to run my fingers along the spine of a rare book!
Luckily, I adore books whether they are rare or not.
Check out Bauman’s if you have the time–it’s a neat website.
Good article at CNN about John Grisham, who received 15 rejection slips before his book “A Time To Kill” was published.
Grisham’s books are not Joyce or Faulkner, for sure, but I see people reading his books with every evidence of enjoyment while I’m traveling back and forth to work.
He’s a well paid entertainer, because he made 9 million dollars last year.
Note to self:
You simply MUST take a vacation at The Library Hotel in NYC.
The Library Hotel has ten floors, and each floor matches a category of the Dewey Decimal System.
The ten floors of The Library Hotel are:
- 3-Social Sciences
- 4-Languages
- 5-Math & Science
- 6-Technology
- 7-The Arts
- 8-Literature
- 9-History
- 10-General Knowledge
- 11-Philosophy
- 12-Religion
Rooms are equipped with books and art matching topics within the floor’s category.
I need to save up, for a long time, because one night’s stay at The Library Hotel can run between $500-$800.
Sigh.
A neighbor of mine was at the bus stop this morning, holding Andrew Morton’s book, Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography.
“This book is giving me nightmares,” she told me, thus ensuring that I will have to get my hands on this book.
I was watching a BBC special on Scientology not too long ago, and the sight of Tom Cruise saluting the portrait of dead scifi writer L. Ron Hubbard spooked me.
I’m going to get my hands on this book and write a review.
If you have read this book, I would appreciate your feedback.

On March 16,2008, a miniseries on John Adams will premiere on HBO.
Tom Hanks is one of the executive producers of this miniseries starring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney.
The miniseries is based on David McCullough’s book John Adams.
I’ve started the book but not finished it.
Guess I need to hurry up and get it finished.
